Sarah Langland, Steele Insurance Agency
Sarah Langland and her partner, Matt Young, moved to Rixeyville in late 2015. Both grew up in Northern Virginia and knew they wanted to live in the country. They enjoy their home, tucked in the woods, with their cat, Bella, and their puppy, Willow.
Before their move, Sarah was working as a business development manager at a large landscaping company in Fairfax. Unwilling to commute and unable to find a fulfilling job closer to home, she started Serendipity Services, LLC to provide small businesses with administrative and project support. In February 2018, she got her Life, Annuities, and Health license, so she could help people in their personal lives too.
In Spring 2018, she took a break from her business to work full time with Able Heating & Air. It was an easy choice to make, the Venables care about the people around them and their community; values that matter to Sarah too.
Growing up, Sarah’s mom taught her the joy of volunteering by helping multiple organizations and individuals in need. This early exposure to volunteerism made an impact on Sarah. Today, she enjoys tutoring at the Culpeper Literacy Council, coaching Girls on The Run, and serving on the Hero’s Bridge Vietnam Veterans Day 5K planning committee. She finds it difficult to say no when there are so many great nonprofits in Culpeper and so much need. If she can’t help personally, she will help find someone who can.
When you see Sarah around town, you may not know she’s a closet introvert. She knew early on in life it’s not the way she wanted to be, so she took a job in retail to force herself to talk to strangers. She continues to push herself outside her comfort zone to experience life and meet new people. Most days, she finds it rewarding.
Change came roaring in with 2020 for Sarah. She has begun her next adventure as a life specialist, with the Steele Insurance Agency, and is studying to get her property and casualty license. Sarah is looking forward to continuing to find ways to help serve and support the community she loves.
